Quality of Life

How does it feel to get your dog back to a more comfortable quality of life? We asked pet owners whose dogs had received stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis how their dogs quality of life changed? The results are in!

Greater than 80% of dogs showed an improved quality of life according to owners and veterinarians and 85% said they would refer Vet-Stem cell therapy to a friend.

Many stories we hear from owners range from “now my dog can go outside by himself unassisted” to “you gave me my puppy back!”

What are some things that you wish your dog could do again?

  1. Tom Day Said,

Our success rate has been close to 100% when we look at the joint that was injected with stem cells. Overall improvement of the dogs is about 90%, when we factor in everything else. This is very exciting technology! We have treated about 15 dogs since August 2008 when we performed the treatment for the first time. Our knowledge of the benefit of fat-derived stem cells is just beginning. I had planned to treat my own dog, Lucy, who had surgery on both knees and has hip dysplasia. Unfortunately, she had a spinal cord injury due to a ruptured disc in her back and is partially paralyzed. It has been difficult to attract patients because of overall cost, especially during the upcoming holidays. However, owners of those dogs who received the therapy and are doing well are extremely satisfied and would spend the money all over again!

  2. Bob Said,

Thanks Dr. Day for sharing your direct experiences. Once dog owners see that the therapy is using their pet’s own cells, it often makes it more appealing. It is a big decision to choose stem cell therapy, and experiences like yours will help many dog owners understand how beneficial this can be to help alleviate the pain and disability of their companions. Your high level of success is due, in no doubt, to your attention to a complete physical examination and appropriate diagnostics. We’re happy to hear that your success rate is one of the best of our credentialed veterinarians.

The decision with your own dog not to use stem cells must have been hard since you have seen such good results, but as you know, it is very important to understand what conditions are most responsive to stem cell therapy (http://www.vet-stem.com/smallanimal).

Thank you and keep us posted on your progress!
